Rebecca grew up a hippy kid in the Kootenays of British Columbia; Nakusp, then Nelson. Her two older brothers and sister bossed her and babied her too. The neighbourhood was filled with kids. Summers were glorious, swimming in the lake, eating cherries with her best friend, high up in the cherry trees, and often sleeping under the stars. She got to explore her creativity early with dance, skating and drama. She also spent hours and hours reading her favourite books, and creative writing, dreaming of the day she would be a famous novelist.
Some events in Rebecca's early life, including her parent's separation made her go more inward, although her creative yearnings never left. Teenage years are mostly fond memories, a blur of friends, talking on the phone, boys, and lots of hairspray. It was the 80's after all. Finding sparks in high school Drama and the local Community Theatre, Rebecca left home at eighteen for the University of Victoria's Theatre Program.
This is where Rebecca's love of writing returned and her most fulfilling and joyful acting grew from her own writing and imagined characters. She completed the four-year program, received her Bachelor of Arts and headed to the big city of Vancouver to pursue her dreams. Wouldn't you know, the first play she got a part in, would lead to her most cherished roles of partner and mom. She fell in love with and eventually married the director of that first play and down the road they created two wildly creative children, Benjamin and Olivia. Rebecca was thrilled to connect back to her love of writing a few years ago when she was chosen as one of fifteen women to be a co-author in the first Woman of Worth Collaborative Book. This experience was wonderful and by connecting with the publisher of Influence Publishing, Julie Ann, Rebecca decided to take a writing retreat with Julie in a dream destination, the French countryside!
During this writing retreat, the idea for the first Family Tree Book was born. Eleven authors gathered to create Family Tree ~ Embracing Your Father Daughter Roots for Forgiveness, Fulfillment and Freedom. These are true life stories designed to bring more healing, growth and love to families. Rebecca wholeheartedly loved supporting the authors in bringing their powerful, and vulnerable stories into the world. The second Family Tree book was another beautiful collaboration, all about the Mother Daughter relationship. For the third book a new group of authors shared the Mother's perspective; the joys and challenges of raising boys! |
“Rebecca attended my monologue writing class and her piece was chosen to have a professional staged reading. Rebecca’s excellent screenplay is one of the best I’ve ever worked on and deserves a full production.” ~ Aaron Bushkowsky, award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and novelist
Rebecca has been a health nut and fitness fanatic since her teens. While supplementing her acting career, she took training to became a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer which blossomed into her main career for 16 years. She loves helping people feel alive, energized, healthy and fit! In 2005, she was introduced to a unique wellness company called Isagenix. After experiencing her own astounding results and those of her husband, while using this exceptional nutrition, she began to share it with her clients and friends. She created a full-time income over time while helping others transform their health and create extra cash flow for their families. Rebecca is so proud of the positive difference the company is making! Rebecca’s big dream is to see her film script produced and to watch it on the big screen. Recently, a couple of producers are interested in her screenplay; it’s a dream that keeps moving her forward! In August of 2021 Rebecca had to make the most challenging decision of her life and leave her 23 year marriage. Since that time, Rebecca has faced many important life-transforming decisions and has gained the confidence and determination to create a happy, healthy, thriving, new chapter for herself. |
